Course Overview

The Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpretation (DISLI) is a professional rehabilitation program approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). The course is designed to prepare skilled Indian Sign Language (ISL) interpreters who can effectively bridge communication gaps between persons who are deaf or hard of hearing and the hearing community.
The program focuses on developing proficiency in Indian Sign Language, interpretation techniques, communication ethics, deaf culture, and professional practices. It equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to interpret Indian Sign Language into spoken languages and vice versa in educational institutions, government offices, healthcare settings, workplaces, public services, and community environments.

Course Objectives

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for admission to the Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpretation (DISLI), candidates must have passed 10+2 (Senior Secondary or equivalent) from a recognized Board. Admission shall be subject to the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and the respective institute.

Selection Criteria

Admission shall be granted as per the admission guidelines and selection procedure prescribed by the institute and the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). Candidates must fulfil the prescribed eligibility requirements at the time of admission.
